SURFING BRITAIN & IRELAND

The ultimate surfers travel guide to Britain and Ireland.

Chris Nelson and Demi Taylor scoured the coastlines to produce the ultimate guide to surfing and exploring the wave-rich shores of Britain and Ireland. The first edition of their critically acclaimed ‘Surfing Britain’, released in 2005, was the Observer Escape Book of the Week and a sell-out success. When publishers Footprint commissioned the team to write a second edition, instead of simply updating old ideas, they listened to the market, re-writing and revising the guide, bringing their concept bang up to date and essentially bringing a new product to market with the inclusion of a brand new chapter on Ireland.

Delivered in their familiar authoritative yet accessible tone the book combines in-depth, accurate break information and mapping, pinpointing where to score the best waves on the day. They worked with leading shapers to produce regional board guides for each chapter, Surfers Against Sewage to produce an overview of the unique environmental challenges faced by each locale. Chris sourced stories from Britain and Ireland’s top waveriders for the ever-popular ‘Surfer’s Tales’ features while Demi worked with the UK’s leading lensmen to deliver awesome photography that reveals the soul of these isles. Their trusted recommendations of surfer friendly places to eat, drink and sleep and essentials such as surf shops make this an essential, practical companion.

“It’s without a doubt a must have for any surfers gracing these shores and is miles ahead in its class of books”. Wavelength Magazine
